Happy New Year and best wishes for a healthy 2014!
Approximately 3 years ago, you were a very important part of the Colonial School District’s
Strategic Planning process. Your valuable contributions were the basis for the direction of our district. We have made great progress, but it is now time for us to provide you with an update of our efforts and to discuss with you our plans for the 4th year. Therefore, I invite you to a Town Hall Meeting to discuss Colonial – Moving to the Next Level! This discussion will take place on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at George Read Middle School, 314 E. Basin Road, New Castle, DE 19720.
Please come prepared to “think out of the box” and to provide some more of your powerful input that will allow Colonial to continue to strive for excellence for our students and staff.
We look forward to seeing you and ask that you contact Carlton Lampkins, Assistant Superintendent at firstname.lastname@example.org or 302-323-2705 or Lori Duerr, Manager of Innovation and Performance Management at email@example.com or 302-323-2702, if you have questions or suggestions.

Attention George Read Families:
Today we received a credible threat that a student may bring a weapon to school tomorrow. The police were immediately notified. We were not able to identify the student who wrote the note. As a result, police will be at the school tomorrow, along with numerous Colonial School District Officials, to conduct a property search of every student entering George Read Middle School to ensure the safety of our students. Searches will be conducted for an indefinite period of time, as safety is our number one priority. If you choose to keep your child at home tomorrow, it will be an excused absence.
